Vote This Week in the House

Dear Friend,

The House of Representatives is scheduled to take up the Farm Bill this week, and may vote on a critical amendment to reform the U.S. egg-laying industry. The Denham-Schrader amendment would nearly double the amount of space each hen receives, require labeling on egg cartons to tell consumers how birds were raised, and more. The Denham-Schrader amendment would also nix the dangerous, overreaching "King amendment," which seeks to repeal state laws regarding agriculture production. The King amendment could also repeal state laws on farm animal confinement, horse slaughter, puppy mills, shark finning, and a wide range of other concerns from food safety to child labor to the environment.

It is now critical for every member of the House to hear from constituents who support better treatment of hens. Please make a brief, polite phone call to your U.S. Representative and urge a "YES" vote on the Denham-Schrader amendment to protect egg-laying hens and to block the King amendment.

Remember, your follow-up message is just as critical.
