No Fake Names for Raccoon Dog Fur
Dear Friend,
Raccoon dogs are among the most misrepresented and mistreated animals for the fur trade, and the Federal Trade Commission is proposing to make it worse by allowing the fur industry to use the deceptive name "Asiatic raccoon" on jackets' labels and advertisements.
Raccoon dogs are not raccoons at all, but a species in the Canidae (dog) family, and are often skinned alive for their fur in China. Consumers who wish to avoid buying raccoon dog fur, or companies that wish to avoid selling it, will be duped by this inaccurate and misleading industry-coined name.
Please take a moment to ask the FTC to call the animal by its correct name: "raccoon dog"»
Thank you for all you do for animals,
 Wayne Pacelle, President & CEO
