Support Dan Burton for Indiana's 5th Congressional District
Dear Friend,
The primary election for Indiana's 5th district is on Tuesday, May 4, and advocates of animal protection need to know who is standing up for their interests. The Humane Society Legislative Fund is the non-partisan political arm of the humane movement, and we want you to know that Dan Burton is a friend of animal protection.
Be a part of the growing humane voting bloc by supporting Dan Burton for Congress in the primary election on Tuesday, May 4.
Burton has consistently been a strong supporter of animal protection bills, including those to:
- Strengthen the penalties for illegal dogfighting and cockfighting, making it a felony to transport animals across state lines for these gruesome and barbaric fights.
- Require that pets and service animals are included in emergency disaster plans.
- Require species labeling on fur-trimmed garments regardless of dollar value, enabling consumers to make informed choices and help combat the import of unlabeled dog and cat fur.
- Ban the commercial sale of “crush” videos, where scantily-clad and high-heeled women literally crush small kittens, puppies and other animals to death in a perverse form of pornography.
- End the long-distance transport of tens of thousands of American horses to slaughter plants in Canada and Mexico.
- Provide more humane and fiscally responsible management of wild horses and burros on federal lands.
- Assist with protection of marine turtles in jeopardy from overfishing, habitat destruction, poaching and pollution.
- Provide adequate funding for the enforcement of federal animal welfare laws, as well as for programs to address the needs of animals in disasters and to ease a shortage of veterinarians in rural and inner city areas.
Please share this link with your friends and family and urge them to vote for Dan Burton on May 4, too.
Thanks for all you do for animals!
Sincerely,
Mike Markarian President Humane Society Legislative Fund
